Offices 'Withuishof' (basic series) Maastricht, The Netherlands

ONCE UPON A TIME

Although the origins of the Withuishof villa remain unknown, this stunning seventeenth-century building has a rich history. The estate underwent extensive renovation in 1801, after two Sleypen daughters married two Schoenmaeckers sons – a union that combined and consolidated the two family fortunes.

URBAN WORKSPACE

The neoclassical design of this national heritage building is the result of renovations in the late nineteenth century. The country estate on the outskirts of Maastricht, which once served as a holiday home for the Order of the Ursulines, was transformed by the current owner into a contemporary and inspiring meeting place for companies.

FEEL THE SPIRIT

Unfortunately, much of the interior – parts of which were almost certainly designed by Mathias Soiron – did not stand the test of time. A few Louis XVI style elements are the only remaining artefacts. These elements, paired with the modern furniture and contemporary objects, lend the estate an air that cannot be equalled or rivalled.

CRISP AND CLEAN DOOR FITTINGS

The black door fittings from the Basics series complement the black-and-white checked floors beautifully. The clean design of the door fittings showcases the centuries-old beauty of the building and fits seamlessly with the contemporary character. In this setting, the Basics series offers a versatility that mirrors the diversity of the companies housed within.

OPEN UP!

Despite the urbanization and the fact that the Withuishof villa now houses a multitude of companies, it is still reminiscent of the era in which it served as a holiday home for the Order of the Ursulines. The breath-taking scenery surrounding the estate is enough to inspire new insights.
